What is a good video card for computers for gaming?

i am gonna buy a regular computer then upgrade the video card any sugestions? nothing too expecive please trying too keep it in the 100$ range thanks^_^|||Well, there are a couple of things.

First, make sure that whatever computer you buy is a regular tower, not a slimline model. Those smaller, skinnier versions often cannot be upgraded with a decent video card.

Assuming you have a regular tower with a 300 watt power supply, the best card choices are the Radeon 5570 and GeForce GT240. Anything better would require a power supply upgrade.

Get your video card online from NewEgg or Tiger Direct. Retail stores like Best Buy and Walmart have some good deals on basic computers, but their video card prices are ridiculously high.

A bottleneck can be caused by a weak processor or a weak graphics card, so avoid both if you can.

You can get a 9800GT from newegg for under $100, it requires a 450W power supply. The 9800GT was a very good card a couple of years ago but since then a lot of cards have been produced that are easily better. Currently the biggest bang for the buck is the HD 5770, it costs around $150 at newegg and also requires a 450W power supply. It's easily better than a 9800GT and is DirectX 11 capable for future games, the 9800GT is DirectX 10.

If you can swing it, the HD 5770 and a 450W power supply would be your best bet.

Here's some comparison charts that you can use to compare cards.

Keep in mind that all graphics cards have power requirements and unless you use a low power, low grade card, you'll need to also upgrade your power supply to ensure that both the system and the graphics card have enough power to operate properly. An underpowered system will crash...a lot.|||If you have a look on eBay you can find alot of brand new video cards that a great for gaming and under $100! But I recommend you get an nVidia video card since they are basically made for gaming, on my desktop computer i have a nVidia GeForce GT 220 Which i think is a bit over the $100 range but my one is 1024mb

With $100 you can get a nice nVidia thats 504mb which are still really good for gaming but if your a hard core CoD and BFBC2 Oblivion Farcry (etc) kind of guy then you'll need a bit more cashies XD

heres a link you ye, http://stores.ebay.com.au/Video-Card-Shop (just make sure your computer fits the requirements before you buy it)|||Try the PNY GT 240.

Thats a great balance between power and price.
