I want to combine two gtx 460 video cards together?

I have a gtx 460 already on my pc and i've wanted to buy another one. The one that i'm looking at right now says gtx 460(fermi). Do they have the same chip set, and how does that matter?

What i'm worried about is if it's the same thing, and if it'll work just the same as any other two gtx 460 combined?

On another note, will those two video cards combined help me run video games smoother and better fps?|||A GTX 460 is a gpu based on the fermi architecture. I do not know about a non-fermi 460. If your current 460 has 768mb memory you will need to get another 768mb card, likewise with the 1gb model. For them to work in sli they will have to share the same memory interface. Your best bet is to try and get a similar card to the one you currently have. 1. It should work the same as any other 460 combined, same sli principles. 2. You will see a perfomance increase, however the amount of performance increase you notice will depend on the game and drivers. sometimes it is better to get a more power full single card.|||Need to know what model of GPU you have what motherboard if it is compatible with SLI what is your PSU, CPU, and do you have a enough ventilation or case fans to deal with extra heat? You have not even provided the most basic details about your system. Just because you can do something does not mean you should do it or in this case we don't even know if you can to begin with.|||DOES your mobo have 2 pci express x16 slots, most don't and that means you will need a new mobo and at least 600w psu. You will need more parts if not. Actually if you have a 460 already, you really don't need another one.
