EVGA 7800 GS Gaming Video Card How good is it?

Will Resident evil 5 and grand theft auto 4 work on it?|||By today's standards, a GeForce 7800 GS is barely an entry level gaming card. Better than a Radeon HD 5450, worse than a GeForce GT 220 to give some idea of perspective.|||hi tyler

in its day it was one of the best cards around however its now be replaced by other cards like the GTX580 and gtx460... however its still more than capable of running many games at reasonable detail and resolution..... for example you should be able to run resident evil 5 on medium detail and gta4 on low to medium detail

but your cpu may be the crucial factor in this.... if you have a pretty good cpu such as a core i3 or core i5 then you may see better performance, however on the downside the geforce 7800gs may struggle to keep up with the core i3/i5 and create something we know as "bottlenecking" ( when a older peice of hardwares performance is hampered by a superior peice of hardware )

however if your using a cpu such as a core 2 duo, athlon x2 or pentium D then you may find the evga 7800gs performs well... this is because these processors were released around the same time as this card so they are both around the same in performance

i used to have a XFX geforce 7900gs which has been one of the best cards ive had.... like the 7800gs it has a 256bit memory interface and a good memory clock speed..... however i sold it to buy the radeon HD3850 which ive also sold... im now using a XFX GTS250....

remember to update your drivers ( http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.a… ) and download and install the latest direct x runtime files ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/de… )

i hope this has helped tyler, however any questions let me know

good luck mate !|||GTA 4 is very reliant on your CPU

It will run the games but not too well... 9600gt a good upgrade option or GTS450.

You will need a good duel core (E6750,E7200,E7400,E7500,E8400,E8500) or any quad core to run it well... my pentium D cant handle GTA 4 even though i have an 8800gt.|||Resident Evil 5, probably.

GTA 4 might run rather slow.|||Will work, but put it at its lowest graphic settings to get best performance.
