Is it necessary to have dual video cards?

Im building a new gaming computer and i wanna go big on it, the video card im getting is the ATI radeon HD 5770, 1 GB GDDR5 and 850 Mhz core clock, an ASUS Rampage II MoBo, 12 GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator RAM and a i7-930 CPU that i will most likely overclock, lol. Is it necessary though to dual out 2 HD radeon 5770s? With all the the rigs ive built ive never installed 2 video cards, so, is it necessary and beneficial or will one card do just fine?|||Dual cards will improve the video performance. Some cards come with dual GPU on them already, like the older 4870x2 and I believe the newer 5970.

For most games, a high end single card is usually enough - depends on what games you play and at what resolution....|||well it will split up the work between the 2 cards but i think you would generate more heat if you have 2 cards running
