A friend of mine has a laptop and wanted to play a game on it. Sadly for him, he doesn't have a video card on the laptop apparently. In order to get one, he needs to find reasons his parents would like one. Can you help me/him?|||If you have a decent video card within a laptop, with a HDMI port (sound and video) or DVI (video only), then you can cable it to a TV with a HDMI and/or DVI port, and view anything you can view on the laptop on the TV instead.|||First off, you can't add a video card INTO a laptop. It either comes with it or it doesn't.
Secondly, if you are thinking about a NEW computer, then there are a few things to clarify:
How old are you/him?, and what are you studying in school?
If you are still in grade school or high school, then unfortunately you are probably out of luck. I can't think of a reason to persuade parents.
If you are in college, then you maybe your area of study can be used as a reason. For example, engineers will need graphics to run high end engineering software like AutoCAD. If you studying in the medical field, there are high graphic programs that have virtual models and demonstrations of the human body. Graphic Design of course has an obvious need for a graphics card. Most fields of study can have an excuse as to why you would need one.
The video card is basically used to increase the speed at which graphics are drawn. And without a legitimate reason to own a graphics card, I don't think there is a way to win.|||benefits?
3-d graphics capabilities
crystal-clear digital media
the obvious-gaming
crystal-clear picture and video editing.
vistas aero effects
ultra-smooth video playback quality.
premium 3D surround sound (not necessarily part of GPU, but relies on it.)
highly impressive multimedia performance
higher performance overall
oh, by the way, unless you have a realy high-end laptop, you cant add in a video card. you usually have to get a whole new pc.
just to name a few.
:P|||graphis or design programs use a lot of processor power?
